If you have been supplied with an Android device from IT Support, please follow the below instructions; and any subsequent ones; to set it up for email access.

Before you turn on the phone, you need to create a Google account using your MacIntyre email address.

The Google account is used for the Play Store, which is how you download apps; including the required apps for email access.

To create the account, follow the below FAQ:

Once you've created the account, proceed to the next step in these instructions.

Once you have created the account, it's now time to set-up the phone.

As the phone will need updates and email set-up adding to it, for now don't put your SIM card in the phone. Updates and email set-up can be done without it, the phone just needs connecting to Wi-Fi; which it will prompt for during the set-up process.

Remove the phone from its box and install the battery.

Once the battery is installed, plug it into the charger, you can then turn the phone on and proceed with these instructions

Turn on the phone with the small button on the right hand edge of the phone.

Once the phone has started up, on the 'Hi there' screen, tap 'ENGLISH (UNITED STATES)' to change the language.

Scroll to then tap 'English'

Scroll to then tap 'United Kingdom'

Tap 'START'

If you haven’t yet inserted the SIM, for now tap ‘SKIP’

Tap the relevant Wi-Fi you want to connect to, then enter the password for it

Tap ‘DON’T COPY

You now need to sign in with the Google account you created in step 1.

Type in the your MacIntyre email address used in the account creation, then tap 'Next'

Type the password you chose in the account creation, then tap 'Next'

Tap 'I agree'

Tap ACCEPT

Tap 'Skip', as this feature will be disabled when MaaS360 for MacIntyre email is installed

Choose your PIN, then tap NEXT

Type it again, then tap CONFIRM

Tap NEXT

Tap ‘NO THANKS’.

If you do want to use your voice for the Google Assistant, tap ‘I AGREE’ and follow the prompts for the phone to recognise your voice

Tap ’Skip’

As this is a MacIntyre owned device, personal debit/credit cards should not be added to Google Pay

Tap 'NO, THANKS'

Tap 'ACCEPT AND CONTINUE'

The phone will continue to complete its set-up in the background.

You can see its progress by dragging down from the top of the screen, where the date and time is.

The initial phone is now done, but the device will need to have any pending updates installed.

Drag up from the bottom of screen to the top, to reveal all apps, then tap ‘Settings’

Drag the menu up, then tap ‘System’

Tap ‘System updates’

If there are any pending updates, the phone will automatically download then.

Once downloaded, tap ‘Install’.

The device will install the update and reboot. Once you have unlocked it, repeat steps 'Update' to 'Done' above and install all pending updates until it states ‘Your device is up to date’.
